Blue Slips - AUVIS Inspections
Bringing an unregistered or interstate car onto NSW plates? That's a blue slip - and we're set up to inspect and issue them from our Lambton workshop.
A blue slip is an Authorised Unregistered Vehicle Inspection (AUVIS). It's more thorough than a pink slip because it confirms both the safety and the identity of a vehicle that isn't currently registered in NSW. You'll need one to register a vehicle coming from interstate, to put a lapsed or long-unregistered car back on the road, or to clear certain defect notices.
We check the vehicle against its identification, inspect it to the required safety standard, and issue the blue slip so you can register through Service NSW. If the car needs work to pass, our mechanical team can handle the repairs in-house and re-inspect, saving you a second trip across town.

Questions about blue slips
You need a blue slip when the vehicle is unregistered - for example registering an interstate vehicle in NSW, re-registering a car whose rego has lapsed for an extended period, or clearing a major defect. A pink slip is only for renewing the rego on a vehicle that's already registered in NSW.
As well as a full safety inspection, a blue slip verifies the vehicle's identity, including the VIN and engine details. It's the inspection that makes an unregistered vehicle eligible for NSW registration.
A blue slip is only valid for a limited time, so you'll want to register the vehicle promptly after it passes. We'll confirm the current timeframe when you book in.
